Maymana Arefin was invited as the Family Programme Artist-in-Residence to design and run a series of workshops alongside Tamara Henderson’s exhibition, ‘Green in The Grooves’ (2023).
Inspired by the exhibition and Tamara Henderson’s ‘The Canberran Characters’ (2021), these sessions encouraged families to transform found objects and scavenged materials, such as: clay, twigs, fabric, cardboard and yarn into sculptures. Through play and experimentation, we explored more-than-human worlds, folklore and fantasy. We dismantled and (re)constructed our imaginings of the otherworldly creatures who live within our soil.
